Volkswagen Up drives on sound, created by B&S Holland
The dutch importer of Volkswagen, Pon, has lauched a new advertising campaign for the introduction of the new Volkswagen Up in Holland . This campaign is linked to the coming Olympic Games in London. The motto of this campaign is "SHOUT YOURSELVES TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES IN THE FIRST VOLKSWAGEN UP THAT DRIVES ON SOUND". The advertising agency that organizes this campaign contacted B&S with the question if we can adapt an Volkswagen Up so that the throttle wil be operated by sound. We have taken this challenge and created a system to realize this. In two Volkswagen Up`s with manual gearbox we installed a combination of an VU-meter (that transforms sound into an electronic signal), an electronic accelarator, an automatic clutch and speed limiter. All systems react on the amount of decibels that is created in the car. This cars will make a promotion tour through the Netherlands in the next few weeks, where they will visit several cities and villages all over the country. To promote this, a commercial is made that is showed every day , several times on the Dutch television. During these visits people are challenged to drive a track of 100 meter by screaming as loud as they can. The winners w hom take the track the fastest will win tickets to visit the Olympic Games. You can see the results of this nive piece of work on www.uphollandup.nl and www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6f-osPCnFk (if you are unable to view this link then please copy and paste the link into your browser to view.

During a meeting from Pon whit their German colleguees from Volkswagen, we had the possibility to show these cars to the headquarter of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg. In German vs. Holland battles the employees of both companies shouted themselves over an 50 meter track.
